Ces is our happy, stud athlete and ever dancing 6:30pm staple for nearly 3 years. She joined with a special we ran one time. 40 women started only 1 remained and the results of her commitment and hard work are evident!
Tell us about yourself:
I’m 27 years old and have lived in Oxnard all my life. I have a huge family that I love and spend most of my free time with. I love to dance and sing! Usually do both between lifts and wods. Most vacations are spent attending music festivals and traveling with my boyfriend. Music is a big part of who I am.
What do you do for work?
I am an Office Manager at NBVC Point Mugu. That’s all I can really say. I don’t want to bore you.
What was your first impression and how has it changed?
My first impression of crossfit was, “Holy sh%T, this is hard!”, and that impression hasn’t changed much. Each wod or lift is challenging in it’s own way but I’ve learned to love the struggle. That feeling of battling through a wod and being happy with what you’ve done is so satisfying. Or there’s those days when a wod will stop you in your tracks and mentally destroy you. I love those wods too. You learn something about yourself after those.
Tell us something people might not know about you.
I looove Toppers’ pineapple and chorizo pizza. You gotta try it! You won’t be disappointed.
What brought you to BeachSide Crossfit in the first place?
Almost 3 years ago, I saw an ad on Facebook for a Women’s Crossfit 6-Week Challenge and I signed up right away. Best thing I could have ever done for myself. Thank you Mee Lee for coaching that challenge. Because of you, I’m with Beachside today.
What’s your favorite Crossfit exercise?
Burpees! I know that sounds terrible but I think being short really helps.
What’s your best Crossfit memory?
My first strict pull-up. I would have never thought in a million years I would be able to do one! I actually did it when no one was looking so I squealed to myself with excitement and left the gym. I was so happy with myself I didn’t know what to do. (Loser! I know.)
What are you currently working on now?
Staying consistant with eating the right foods. Its a daily battle for me. My body does amazing things when I eat the right things. I just have to remind myself that.
What’s your favorite BeachSide memory?
Competing at this year’s BeachSide Beatdown with Coach Jess. What an experience! We worked so well together and I couldn’t be happier with where we placed. Coach Jess gave me confidence and made me believe in myself and I think that really showed. Also, the Beatdown was the first time my parents saw me compete and actually see what WE do at BeachSide. It made me proud that they were proud of me.
