ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

April 2025 – Alyssa Huebner

Tell us about yourself:
I’m a kitchen and bath designer and have been working in this industry for over a decade.

Tell us something people might not know about you:
People might not know that I am ready to nerd out over sharks at any moment. People also tell me I’m very witty even though I’m very quiet.

What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
After I stopped playing roller derby and started spending more time behind a desk I needed a new outlet. Specifically something that seemed challenging and low key terrifying.

What was your first impression? How has that changed?
My first impression was that it’s a high energy place where folks push themselves every workout. But that the coaches were still happy to meet me at my day one level. I think I still feel similarly, the coaches are still ready to meet me at whatever level I’m at, and the motivation to improve keeps me coming back.

What was your first “bright spot”?
I think the first time I finished a workout in the time frame without having to modify any movements felt like a bright spot. It showed that I was making progress even though sometimes it’s hard to see in the moment.

What are you working on now?
My goal for this year is to complete at least one strict unassisted pull up.

What’s your favorite BeachSide Crossfit memory?
I don’t know that I have one specific memory. But I’m always stoked for a good 6:30 crew workout.
