Tell us about yourself:
I’m 33yrs old, raised in the mean streets of Ventura, and I love crossfit!
What do you do for a job?
I’m a Land Surveyor technician. Ehh, basically I identify property lines and help create topography maps. And more. I like it.
Tell us something people might not know about you:
hmmm, well, I’ve been playing drums since I was 12 years old. And my Myers brings personality type is INFP(ish).
What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
I saw some clips of the crossfit games on YouTube, after searching for cross training exercises that I though would help me with my other activities like surfing and stuff. Watched a few videos and though it looked fun, but I thought “man, you really need to be in shape to do this crossfit stuff”. So I didn’t jump on it right away. A few years later, at the beginning of one of my, many, many attempts to lose weight. I decided to finally try crossfit. Started elements that month.
What was your first impression? How has that changed?
During my first crossfit workout I remember thinking. Oh crap! This is hard!! I’m supposed to do this every day? It’s no different now, I still say “oh crap, this is going to suck!” I guess the only difference now is, I look forward to the challenge of getting tru a hard workout. It’s always a great feeling walking away from a wod knowing you truly challenged yourself. You really walk out of the gym feeling proud and accomplished for the day. Post crossfit endorphin rush, is the best!
What was your first “bright spot”?
I would have to say, running my first mile without stopping. After that ONE, came many more.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m really working on my nutrition, it’s a continuous effort. Mostly focusing on the quality of food I eat. I’m also hopping to get my L1 Crossfit certificate by the end of the year.
What’s your favorite Beachside Crossfit memory?
Just one?… crossfit open 17.4S I was able to PR my snatch @ #155 even after that whole workout! And cramping! It took a few tries, but with the beachside crew cheering me on, I was able to pull it off!
