November 2026 – Cameron Richards

Tell us about yourself:

I was born in Ventura but spent most of my life in Orange County before moving back a little over two years ago. I’ve worked remotely since 2020, so being close to the beach and family made Ventura an easy choice. My fiancée, Kelsey, recently moved in with our cat, who’s already running the household. When we’re not working or working out, we’re usually riding our bikes around downtown or wedding planning—which might be the toughest workout yet.

What do you do for a job?
I’m a Senior Finance Manager at Molecular Devices, a biotech company. I work remotely doing financial planning, forecasting, and making spreadsheets look like I know what I’m doing.

Tell us something people might not know about you:
I proposed to my fiancée on a mountain in Niseko, Japan, during a snowboard trip earlier this year. Luckily, she said yes—would’ve been an awkward ride down otherwise.

What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
I’ve always enjoyed working out and used to be an avid runner and regular gym goer. Working remotely, I needed a reason to get out of the house and have some actual in-person interaction. CrossFit gave me both, plus a workout I didn’t have to plan myself.

What was your first impression? How has that changed?
My first impression was that it was fun and brought out my competitive side—mostly with myself. I’ve loved learning new movements, pushing myself, and getting stronger. The coaches, the people, and that feeling after a great workout keep me coming back—even when the workout leaves me questioning my choices.

What was your first “Bright Spot?”
My first bright spot was realizing I had a knack for gymnastics movements, especially bar and ring muscle-ups. They’ve gotten a little more challenging since my fiancée moved in—her cooking is just too good. 😉

What are you working on now?
Shoulder mobility and snatches. My shoulders aren’t exactly flexible, so I’m working on convincing them that overhead is a perfectly reasonable place to be.

What’s your favorite BeachSide CrossFit memory?
My most recent favorite memory was bringing my fiancée to Bring a Friend day and doing a partner WOD together. Watching her try bench press and V-ups for the first time was fun—she was very sore afterward. Otherwise, I love every workout, even wall balls… although I love those a little more once they’re over.
